Director, Employee Relations, Texas Woman's University
(Salary Competitive)

Position Overview:
Provides a full range of employee relations services to the University, including consultation and support to management and employees related to performance management, attendance, conflict management, workplace guidelines and employee issues.  Analyzes and interprets University policies and procedures, reviews applicable employment and labor laws, and provides objective problem-solving and decision-making assistance. Coordinates and conducts investigations involving allegations of harassment, discrimination, or misconduct, including Title VII, Title IX and ADA. The Director provides leadership that includes strong partnership with other areas of the university.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field preferred.  Title IX related training or certification through a nationally recognized organization and PHR, SPHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.

Experience: Seven years of progressively responsible experience in employee relations with demonstrated experience in investigations and HR programs.  A minimum of two of the seven years must be in higher education.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required

ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but not limited to the following:

 
*   Monitors compliance with all federal and state anti-discrimination laws.
  *   Consults with managers to develop workplace and job expectations and address performance issues of employees; provides counsel related to documenting and training; assists with preparing and reviewing formal corrective actions documents, including performance improvement plans; provides strategies for resolving complex and critical employment matters.
  *   Coordinates and conducts timely investigations of alleged violations. Evaluates, prepares and presents documentation regarding recommendations for corrective action/progressive discipline.
  *   Develops and reviews professionally written, comprehensive, unbiased written reports that include a summary of facts and findings.
  *   Provides guidance on Human Resources policies and practices including, but not limited to, performance management and disciplinary actions. Analyzes and recommends solutions to employee performance issues.
  *   Oversight of unemployment claims.
  *   Assists with the coordination of the exit interview program; meets with employees, compiles feedback and maintains program metrics reports.
  *   Maintains applicable website information for accuracy and completeness of information and links.
  *   Develops and conducts University training sessions for areas of responsibility.
    *   Tests and confirms newly installed Oracle patches for impact on functionality in system.

Certifications:
SHRM.SCP.PHR and SHRM.SCP.CCP – preferred
